SOAKING SEATTLE

24″ x 36″

On one level This is an amusing painting with the iconic Hammering Man watering the blossoming city of Seattle. The famous skyscrapers and the Seattle Needle are draped in the patterns that we see in our gardens, from iridescent spider webs, patterns on a leaf, to the roots of a plant. It is also a reflection on the fast paced expansion of our city, and city population. I used ink to create the outline of the skyline, hammering man, and roots, using acrylic paint and water to add color, texture and pattern. For the sky I layered the paint on the canvas trying to capture the light that shines through the many shades of grey.

UDUB – GETTING TO CLASS

Udub has a beautiful campus.
I love dropping my daughter off and seeing all the students hurrying to class.

SHADES OF ORANGE

I am having so much fun developing my ideas, and playing around with paints and color. Here are some of my latest paintings. The first painting is called Christea – my ballet alter ego. She has perfect turnout and is oh so humble! The second painting is an abstract interpretation of the changing color of the Echinacea group of flowers.

COME RAIN OR SHINE

I am currently working on a series of paintings with the rain and umbrellas as a central theme. I miss the rain! I was born in England, and yes, it rains a lot, however unlike Seattle, the rain is accompanied by the biting wind. So, for me the rain in Seattle is refreshing, and fragrant because we have the most beautiful greenery, even in the city! Here is the first painting in the series. I have called it ‘Hesitation’. On reflection, maybe it should be called ‘Procrastination’!

BALLET

I love ballet and most dance forms! I admire the tremendous dedication and passion a dancer needs. Here are my reflections on the beauty of ballet.
